Nakanojo Historical and Folklore Museum and ninja tombs
Nakanojo town is right in the middle of Numata castle and Ueda castle. Both castles were dominated by Sanada family. So, Nakanojo town was very important place for strategic reason, many Sanada ninja lived around the area to do spying political situation of surrounds and quickly reciprocate intelligence between both castles. It is a very rare case that documents of many ninja with real names exist there.
The reason was responsible to ninja in Nakanojo almost come from Ninshi (Low class Samurai ninja). Nakanojo Historical and Folklore Museum is located at the back of Hometown exchange center. The Museum is utilizing primary school being closed built in Meiji Age, a small corner is allocated for Sanada ninja and Sanada family. You will be disappointed to see exhibits are too small. But you will find ninja tombs nearby. Those tombs are for Karasawa Genba and Warita Shimousa-no-kami Shigekatsuwho were from Sanada Ninshi. Karasawa Genba is famous for his high jump ability (standing jump1.6m) and is said to become the origin of Sarutobi Sasuke.
