Kyoto railway museum for railway Otaku
Kyoto railway museum opened on April 29th of 2016 nearby Kyoto station.This is a wonderful news for the railway otaku (freak), so Yu-pon would love to show you the new museum.
Yu-pon’s impression from visiting the museum is this Kyoto railway museum was constructed in the same concept as Tokyo railway museum. Of course West Nippon Railway Company used to be the same company with East Nippon Railway Company as Japan Railway Company.
The exhibitions of this museum was opened in the same way as Tokyo railway museum; Japan railway‘s history, vehicle structure, Railway vehicle factory (1F),Railway diorama, operational system, driving simulator, life and the railway (2F).
The mini train for kids runs out side of the museum building also. You can eat an ekiben(a packed meal, box lunch) which is sold at the railway station out of restaurant.
This museum’s specialties are; 1. Steam locomotive boarding 2.Roundhouse platform for locomotive 3. exhibition for locomotive in operation. Indeed you can see direction switching of locomotive on marshaling yard.
Well, Yu-pon thought that this is the only museum in Japan where you can board the real moving locomotive and see the nostalgic marshaling yard where train dispatcher worked. Kyoto rail way museum is a must place to visit for all locomotive lovers.
A Shinkansen is a kind of fun, but for a freak (otaku) with sympathy with old locomotive, you should be there, the place!
