Masutomi Onsen is the famous onsen as “Shingen’s hidden spring”.Takeda Shingen who was one of brilliant daimyo (a federal lord) in the Warring States period (1467~1568). He sent many wounded soldier to the onsen for cure after the battle. And, he used a ninjya a lot also. Masutomi Onsen has the No,1 amount of radium in the onsen water in Japan. The treatment of Masutomi Onsen is different from that of Tamagawa Onsen. Masutomi Onsen doesn’t have a bedrock bathing and high acidic onsenwater.
This onsen’s temperature is almost 30℃ and its color of the onsenwater is brown. The bathing people are keeping themselves in this cold onsen for 30min usually and inhale radon gasfloat at 5cm abobe the surface. The radium inhalation style for cure provide a good radiation hormesis effect to the patient. Yu-pon went there 3 times and had 3 big surprises.
1st one; Masutomi Onsen is in a village deep in the mountains. Yu-pon saw many Bentley, Rolls-Royce, luxurious Benz and BMW at the parking of Furoukaku.Yu-pon never saw this scene even at the parking of other famous hotels.
2nd one; The story at Furoukaku, very old women was transferred to this Ryokan by her son who was around 50 years or so. The son asked taking care of his mother during her stay to Furoukaku and went back his home. The main bath room is in the basemen. This old lady couldn’t walk, so she was brought in the basement for bathing. Two days later, Yu-pon saw the incredible scene in which the old lady climbed up the step from the basement by herself.
3rd one; When Yu-pon was at Tuganerou, the Ryokan worker told me that the onsen spring nearby the roadside for Tuganerou should give a good effect to a health.So Yu-pon took the spring water and drank the spring water later when I got cold later. The taste was very bad, smelled metallic and bitter, but Yu-pon could make a recovery in only one day.
