Sakura Festival :3, Hirosaki Castle Site Park(弘前城)

Hirosaki Castle

Hirosaki Park is taking over Hirosaki Castle which is located in the castle town of the TsugaruHan. The Castle Duke has planted mainly 26000 Sakuras(Somei-Yoshino) early of Meiji period.
So you can see the oldest in Japan Somei Yoshino which has 5.15 m around stem .

The Hirosaki Park Sakura Festival runs from April 23rd to May 5th normally, also you can see the Nebuta special parade, the musical tournament for Shamisen (a three-stringed musical instrument) that plays a nostalgic sound and so on .

Unfortunately, Yu-pon haven’t been there, even though one of the big 3 name Hanami.

Aomori Prefecture is the northern area in Honshu Island.
The reason why that the Sakura in Hirosaki blooms is later almost 1 month than the other area more southern from Hirosaki city. People lived out of Tohoku Area with sakura freak already went to Hanami in the fall of April, and also Hirosaki was inconvenience place until the start of operation bound for Aomori of the Shinkansen in 2010.
There are a few accommodations for the Hanami Festival.

If you were interest the cherry blossom and weren’t in Japan at March or April, you have a very nice chance to look the Hanami Festival in May around Tohoku and Hokkaido. Hirosaki Sakura Festival is the last one for sakura’s hanami.
