A word of cobalt blue color means brilliant blue and sometimes express deep clear blue sky and sea.Japanese say that’s color is Ruriiro.There are 10 well known Cobalt blue Onsen in Japan, especially a lot of them are found in Kyusyu area.
Why the onsen water become a cobalt blue color? It is a principle as same as you see the blue for sky. The one of the onsen contain which is named Silica Toroid makes to scatter only short wave-length blue light. That’s the reason.You can take the cobalt blue onsen in Beppu, Yufuin and nearby areas. In Honsyu Island, you can find a cobalt blue Onsen at Magoroku Onsen in The Nyuto Onsen area.The cobalt blue color Onsen is very clear at first, the color changes to thin blue as time passes. To Yufuin town, 1.5h drive toward west to Beppu city, Yufuin has many Cobalt blue Onsen.Yufuin town is a pretty little town with good atmosphere for the tourist. Yu-pon recommends Syouya no Yakata (Village headman’s palace) as No.1 outdoor blue spa. This is a ryokan but serves a daily tour as well . Lodging ryokan in Yufuin is very expensive normally. If you can afford to stay those ryokan, you certainly would enjoy good feeling of time being slowly passing,quiet enough to look upon yourself,delicious japanese food and wonderful bathing in brilliant color that’s cobalt blue.

1.5h drive from Fukuoka to Kumamoto I.C on Kyushu expressway , 3h from there for Kurokawa via good view Aso Mountain using Route 57 and Route442,then via Kuzu Mountain on Route 387 to Yufuin town.You can get a fun commanding super mountain view while you drive Kuzu area,final place is Beppu city which has many style Onsen(famous 8 Onsen available,incloud,sand bath).
