A word of cobalt blue color means brilliant blue and sometimes express deep clear blue sky and sea.Japanese say that’s color is ”Ruriiro”.

There are 10 well-known cobalt blue onsen in Japan, with a significant concentration in the Kyushu region.

Why the onsen water become a cobalt blue color? It is a principle as same as you see the blue for sky. TSome onsen contain particles called silica toroid scatters only short wave-length blue light. That’s the reason.You can take the cobalt blue onsen in Beppu, Yufuin and nearby areas. In Honsyu Island, you can find a cobalt blue Onsen at Magoroku Onsen in The Nyuto Onsen area.The cobalt blue color Onsen is very clear at first, the color changes to thin blue as time passes. And then onto milk white blue , becoming cobalt blue color lastly. You will find a couple of cobalt blue Onsen in Beppu city.

In addition to being free of charge, this onsen boasts a stunning panoramic view of Beppu town from its open-air bath, which is a beautiful cobalt blue color. What’s more, Ichinoide Onsen is rich in metasilic acid, containing 300mg per liter, making it excellent for beautifying the skin. There are also a couple of public cobalt blue onsen in Kannawa Onsen.

Yufuin town is located 1.5 hours west of Beppu city by car. It’s a charming town with a delightful atmosphere, popular with tourists. Yu-pon recommends Syouya no Yakata (Village Headman’s Palace) as the best outdoor blue spa in the area. Although it’s a ryokan, they also offer day trips. Staying at a ryokan in Yufuin can be quite expensive, but if you can afford it, you’ll surely enjoy the tranquility, the opportunity for self-reflection, delicious Japanese cuisine, and the wonderful experience of bathing in the brilliant cobalt blue water.

Don’t forget Kurokawa Onsen is home to 24 ryokans, and in 2009, Michelin Travel Guide awarded two stars to the region. Yu-pon shows you a fantastic 2-3stays Onsen tour in Kyusyu .The tour starts in Fukuoka, with the first night spent at Kurokawa Onsen, followed by a stay in Yufuin town. The tour concludes in Beppu city.

1.5-hour drive from Fukuoka to Kumamoto IC on Kyushu expressway , 3h from there for Kurokawa via good view Aso Mountain using Route 57 and Route442, then via Kuzu Mountain on Route 387 to Yufuin town.
You can get a fun commanding super mountain view while you drive Kuzu area,Your final destination is Beppu city which has many style Onsen(including the famous 8 Onsen available,incloud,sand bath).
