Green onsen
One night at kunimi-onsen+near by One night

Enjoy bathing at the king of onsen area; Iwate and Akita.
Nestled deep in the mountains of Iwate Prefecture lies a remarkable green color onsen that glows with a vivid emerald hue. Locals fondly call it the “medicinal spring in the mountain.”
Its name is Kunimi Onsen—and it is known for its emerald green-colored waters that shimmer like gemstones. Discovered atop Kunimi Pass nearly 200 years ago, the hot spring owes its striking green color to Rayleigh scattering caused by its rich mineral composition.
There are three ryokan nearby: Ishizuka, Moriyama, and Kunimi. Yu-pon adores this place and has stayed at Ishizuka Ryokan twice.
This medicinal green color onsen is good for gastrointestinal disorders and neuralgia.
You can enjoy a panoramic view from the top of the pass. The famous Nyuto Onsen area is located west of Kunimi Onsen, about an hour’s drive away. Tamagawa Onsen is located northwest of Kunimi, about a one and a half hour drive away.
Yu-pon loves this rich area for the pleasure of onsen bathing. You should visit and enjoy its nature and all the joys the king of onsen areas in northern Tohoku has to offer.
Direction to Kunimi by train
From Tokyo Station, take the Akita Shinkansen to Shizukuishi Station (Iwate Prefecture), which takes about 2 hours and 30 minutes.
Then, take a taxi to Kunimi Onsen—about 30 minutes and approximately 5,000 yen.
There used to be a pick-up service provided by the inn, but it is no longer available.

| Kuro-yu Direction ; | Take Ugo local Transportation bus, get off at final bus stop named Nu-tou onsenkyou 50 nin. Then contact the hotel |
Another recommended way to get there is by rental car.
Pick up a rental car at Tazawako Station. Toyota and ORIX rental car offices are located near the station (about 10,000 yen per day).
Using a rental car allows you to explore the Nyuto Onsen area, Tamagawa Onsen, and Shizukuishi Onsen.
You can also include these areas as options in your travel plan.
Where should I stay for one more night? Recommend the Shizukuishi Onsen area.
Nyuto onsen consists of 7 hot springs;
Tsuru-no-yu, Kuroyu, Tae-no-yu, Magoroku Onsen, Ogama (Big Pot) Onsen, Kaniba Onsen, and Kyukamura (Holiday Village) Onsen—each of these seven hot springs offers its own unique and delightful rotenburo experience.
Yu-pon would especially love to stay at Kuroyu or Tsuru-no-yu, as both ryokan feature mixed bathing areas (though not all baths are mixed; mixed bathing means men and women bathe together).
One challenge with these onsen facilities is that they are often fully booked. If that happens, you can still enjoy them through day-use visits without lodging.
You can visit all seven hot springs and stay at other hotels near the Nyuto Onsen area.
Shizukuishi Onsen is an optional area you can choose, located close to Nyuto Onsen. It offers skiing in winter and accommodations in modern hotels. Kunimi Onsen is also part of this area.
Shizukuishi Onsen consists of 10 hot spring areas and is located about a one-hour drive from Nyuto Onsen. If you drive one hour west, you’ll reach the famous Tamagawa Onsen, known for its therapeutic effects, including cancer treatment
