Five Heads Onsen Village is located to the west of Gozu Mountain, beside the Agano River. It comprises the Murasugi Onsen (村杉温泉), Imaita Onsen (今板温泉), and De-yu Onsen (出湯温泉). These radium-rich hot springs are said to be very effective for treating various ailments, particularly cancer. In addition to radium onsen bathing, you can relax your soul. While in Five Heads Onsen Village, you can step into a world of Japanese grace and elegance.

About this atmosphere of Japanese grace you feel in there, the origin goes back far beyond this. Niigata has been a fertile rice-producing area since the Edo period, and it remains so today.
The onsen in this area have been known for over 1200 years, but their popularity as health back onsen resorts for treatment and relaxation spa began in the early Meiji period.

Many wealthy rice farmers, large landowners, and new government officials who live around Niigata area came to Five Heads Onsen Village. Following their lead, many writers and artists also visited frequently. It is quite a famous story that Duke Fumimaro Konoe, who served three times as Prime Minister, loved this place and visited often.

These historical accumulation and satoyama woodlands nature make you feel that time is going slowly.Then you find the feeling in something with an old Japanese grace, Its vibration will mend your spirit.

There are four radium springs in Japan, and this area boasts the highest radium content among them.
