Health Back Onsen Resort(Onsen Therapy) 温泉治療

History of Onsen Therapy
In Europe there are medical spring places , such as balneotherapy, that are useful for a preventive medicine, rehabilitation, mind and body disease, stress-related illness and chronicity sickness.
Yu-pon is interested in the history of onsen treatment in Japan. So, Yu-pon researched the curative effects. From ancient times, the onsen springs played a role as a kind of nursing home. After Buddhism arrived (6th century), the idea of onsen faith became ingrained in people’s minds, resembling the image of an onsen temple.
And Yakushi Nyorai (onsen god; Bhaisajya-guru) was established. Additionally, there are interesting anecdotes in nearby regions where people learned about hot spring medical treatment by observing a wounded deer bathing in a hot spring in the deep mountains.
In the 16th century, Daimyo (feudal samurai lords) fought with each other for domination. Shingen Takeda developed and applied onsen cures for soldiers injured in battle.
During the Edo period, local Daimyo had their own district-owned convalescence onsen.
Functions of onsen therapy
To put it simply, onsen therapy has three main healing mechanisms: improving physical function, normalizing the autonomic nervous system, and providing chemical benefits. Regarding the improvement of physical function, you experience water pressure, buoyancy, and warmth during your onsen bath.
These effects improve blood circulation, provide a massaging effect to the internal parts of the body, and relax both your mind and body. Regarding the normalization of the autonomic nervous system, it will bring back your energy, allowing you to gain a new perspective on your life plan.
Regarding the chemical functions, the eleven ingredients of the onsen (carbon dioxide, gypsum, salt, aluminum, sulfur, and several radioactive isotopes) are said to be effective for various internal ailments, such as atopy, neuralgia, hemorrhoids, disorders, rheumatism, burns, bone fractures, mental illnesses, and cancer.
Yu-pon leanes that these effects are very broad and important for human health. Let’s all go to the onsen.
