More Radium Onsen Koubouno-yu 弘法の湯
For busy person who finds Tamagawa Onsen is pretty far. Yu-pon recommends Koubouno-yu in Izu-Nagaoka Onsen.
The owner of Koubouno-yu had colon cancer, which spread to his liver and lymph nodes. He was given only six months to live.
He thought that the Koubouno-yu ryokan had been rebuilt in the same way as the bedrock bathing of Tamagawa Onsen, so he purchased 50 kg of hokutolite and 30 tons of Bad Gastein stone. (Bad Gastein in Austria is famous for radium shaft treatment.)
He has been undergoing bedrock bathing 3 times a day and has changed to a vegetable-based diet for 5 years. Then he fully overcame cancer perfectly. There are three Koubouno-yu ryokans and they serve very economic room rate (for Touji guest price ).
If you are interested in trying bedrock bathing, Koubouno-yu is a good budget-friendly option. A one-day trip from Tokyo is possible.
